My Teaching Method and Techniques
My teaching approach is student-centered, supportive, and adaptable to each learner’s needs. I focus on building confidence while helping students strengthen their academic skills through clear explanations, guided practice, and interactive learning activities. I use scaffolding, visuals, real-world examples, and step-by-step instruction to make challenging concepts easier to understand.
For English/ESL learners, I incorporate conversation practice, vocabulary development, reading comprehension, and grammar support in engaging and culturally responsive ways. In math, I emphasize problem-solving strategies and breaking down concepts into manageable steps. In history, I encourage critical thinking by connecting historical events to students’ lives and current issues while supporting reading and writing skills.
I also prioritize creating a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing academically.
A Typical Lesson Plan
A typical lesson is structured but flexible depending on the student’s goals and learning style. Lessons may include:
Warm-up or review of previous material
Introduction of a new concept or skill
Guided practice with support and modeling
Independent practice or problem-solving activities
Discussion, reflection, or comprehension checks
Homework help, test preparation, or skill reinforcement as needed
For ESL students, lessons often include speaking, listening, reading, and writing practice integrated throughout the session.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
What sets me apart is my experience working with diverse learners in educational settings, including multilingual students and students with varying academic needs. I focus not only on helping students improve grades, but also on helping them build confidence, study skills, and long-term academic success.
As someone with experience in education and student support, I understand the importance of patience, encouragement, and adapting instruction to fit different learning styles. I strive to make lessons engaging, approachable, and personalized for every student.
