About Jacob
I'm a mathematics PhD student at the University of Idaho and I've taught college-level math courses for a few years. I'm dedicated to my students' success, and really enjoy seeing them gain confidence in math and learn new skills. When I'm not doing math, you can probably find me running or hiking around Moscow!

I teach any math from high school to college level. I emphasize intuition and understanding over memorization, and try to motivate new topics and ideas with examples and easy exercises. My goal is to help students develop mathematical reasoning skills that they can apply now, but can also carry with them into future courses. A typical lesson would involve a short introduction or review of a topic, including some examples, followed by some practice problems. I'm flexible and willing to adapt my lessons to my students and how they learn best. I try to make learning math fun and incorporate interaction and illustration whenever possible!
