About Julia
I just received my Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering from The University of Alabama. I have tutored in math (mainly algebra, pre-calculus, and calculus) for 4 years. I would also be comfortable assisting in chemistry, biology, physics, etc. Each student I have taught has seen dramatic improvements in both their knowledge of the material, test-taking abilities, and self-confidence. Additionally, I was a teaching assistant for a thermodynamics course while in college. That experience allowed me to aid upcoming chemical engineers in a very challenging course.

I like to start by getting to know a student's strengths and weaknesses. I do this by simply asking if they have specific topics they struggle with, and I have also formulated diagnostic tests to see where they stand. Efficient learning is different for each student, so I also like to get a grasp on their learning technique in order to make the most of our time. More than anything, I try to be there for my students. Being confused about a topic can be frustrating, so I always want to listen to them and give my best effort to help them succeed. I go into each session with a plan, but I also realize the importance of being adaptable.
