I am a recent Chemical Engineer graduate, I worked at Mathnasium for a year, did private math lessons for a couple of months, and tutored students in English, Spanish, and Math for Reads & Counts at Texas A&M University :)

About the lesson

I always like to see where students are at before I start working with them. I gather a few math problems that will help me see where they are at, based on the grade he/she is in. If I see any weaknesses with basic math, I try to give some time on that and maybe leave some homework for them to do - I have seen this work a lot. From there, I focus on any material that they are struggling on that they are currently working on.
I have also brought some STAAR books for students to work on. I mainly do this to help students get ahead or have them work on problems that they are struggling on.
