As a tutor, I strive towards giving my students the ability to apply their knowledge to many situations. This skill is crucial as often the greatest struggle for students is when their test contains problems based on content they understand but is presented in a way they have never seen before. To enable students to do well on these types of problems, my tutoring sessions include lot of practice problems which get at ambiguous cases to general rules. I have found that learning how to do the "tricky" problem always leads to a deeper understanding.
