About Harper

My passion for mathematics began when I first experienced the clarity that comes from solving a problem that initially felt overwhelming. That feeling inspired me to pursue an M.Sc in Mathematical Analysis, where I explored advanced concepts such as real analysis, abstract algebra, and geometric structures. Over my 12 years of teaching experience, I’ve worked with learners across many levels—from elementary school math through middle school math, algebra, geometry, and SAT math—always focusing on building understanding through clarity and steady encouragement. I teach with a calm, supportive, and adaptive approach that respects each student’s pace and learning style. I use diagrams, step-by-step reasoning, analogies, and real-world parallels to make mathematics feel intuitive and manageable. My classroom environment is warm and welcoming, allowing students to ask questions freely and build confidence as they progress. I believe every learner can succeed in mathematics when they receive patient guidance and thoughtful explanation. Beyond teaching, I enjoy studying educational psychology, exploring mathematical literature, and creating personalized learning resources that make complex ideas simpler for students. Helping learners transform anxiety into confidence, confusion into clarity, and hesitation into strong analytical thinking is what makes teaching mathematics incredibly meaningful to me.

Mathematics becomes approachable and even enjoyable when learners understand the logic behind each idea instead of memorizing steps. In my lessons, I begin with strong foundations in elementary school math, such as number operations, visual models, early patterns, place value, and introductory problem-solving. By using warm explanations and gentle pacing, students develop confidence in their basic skills. This allows them to transition smoothly into more structured concepts found in middle school math, including multi-step arithmetic, integers, ratios, fractions, proportions, and the early forms of algebra and geometry. As students progress, lessons expand to include equation solving, graph interpretation, geometric reasoning, data analysis, and proportional relationships. I guide learners through diagrams, explanations, practice problems, and structured strategies that help them understand why each method works. At this stage, students also begin exploring approaches used in SAT math, such as time management, multi-concept connections, efficient reasoning, and avoidance of common errors. Through supportive instruction, they learn to think critically and apply mathematical logic with confidence. Advanced sessions introduce deeper algebraic structures, coordinate geometry, functions, modeling, and analytic problem-solving. Students learn how to compare multiple solution paths, approach unfamiliar problems calmly, and express their reasoning clearly. My teaching focuses on patience, clarity, and building a solid mathematical mindset so students feel capable and empowered at every level.
