About Georgina

I live in the countryside in UK with my family which includes my two sons (aged 8 and 10), my husband and our fish! We get outside whenever we can - on walks, on our bikes and in the garden. We like activities on land and also on the water including paddleboarding, kayaking and sailing. We are a family of 'makers' - my husband is an engineer, I was a product design engineer for many years and my children are always eager to raid the recycling bin for some junk modelling sessions. In addition to tutoring, I enjoy practising art. I run an adult art class in my village and sell my watercolours and drawings locally. To relax, I like reading, playing the piano and listening to music / podcasts.

About the lesson

I believe in a constructive, creative approach to learning, using examples from real life and exploring different methods of problem solving that resonate with the strengths of each individual student. I am a visual learner and so, a visual teacher - I enjoy using lots of images and diagrams when explaining ideas to students both online and face-to-face. Students will work in a friendly, approachable atmosphere with open communication. This benefits the success of the student as they feel confident to share challenges and work with a positive mindset to improve and reach for the next level. Typically, my lessons are 1 hour long. I have an MEng degree and achieved an A grade in Maths A-Level and GCSE. I have detailed knowledge of the curriculum and experience teaching Maths from Year 3 through to GCSE. I tutor maths and 11+ privately with between 5 and 10 students each year. I also work in secondary schools to support maths students to strive for their next grade boundary. I am fortunate to have many positive comments both from private tuition and from my work in schools - I am always amazed by the progress the students can make when given the extra 1:1 attention that they need.
