About Benjamin

Hi, I’m Ben — a dedicated maths tutor based in Canberra. I’ve always loved mathematics — not just solving problems, but understanding why things work. Over time, I’ve found that many students don’t struggle because they’re “bad at maths,” but because no one has ever explained it in a way that truly makes sense to them. That’s where I come in.

As a visual learner, I teach through clear explanations, diagrams, and examples that bring abstract concepts to life. Whether it’s algebra, calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, or complex analysis, I aim to make each topic intuitive and approachable.

I’ve studied advanced mathematics up to university level, and I genuinely enjoy helping others discover the logic and beauty behind it. My lessons are calm, patient, and tailored to each student’s learning style — whether they’re catching up, aiming for top marks, or preparing for university maths.

Outside tutoring, I’m passionate about my classical piano training and pursuing my art career

I hired Ben to assist a family member of mine with Aspergers struggling to understand some maths concepts in his engineering course. We had previously had other tutors; however, they were not equipped with the patience to understand someone with ASD or their line of thought.

I offer flexible tutoring across the Canberra region, with both in-person and online options available.

In-person tutoring:
• $70 per hour (travel included within Canberra region)
• First session is free — this gives us a chance to meet, discuss your goals, and see how you learn best.

Online tutoring (via Zoom/Teams/Google Meet):
• $60 per hour
• Perfect for students who prefer flexibility, or who live outside Canberra.

All lessons are fully personalised to the student’s needs — whether that’s catching up, getting ahead, or mastering higher-level university maths.
