About Maya

I'm Maya, a Durham University student who studied Mathematics, Biology and English Literature at A-Level, and wrote a 12,000-word EPQ on child and adolescent mental health.

I have received the top grade (9/A*/D1) in every exam I have ever sat. I was one of only 81 students nationwide to achieve 11 Grade 9s in my GCSE exams, hence why I now teach up to this level. I attended North London Collegiate School and Highgate School, and have helped children gain places at these schools through exam preparation tutoring, as well as other top London schools.

I believe the key to academic success is a combination of hard work, authentic love of learning and self-confidence. As well as improving their academic work, I always seek to improve my students' belief in their own abilities, assets and intrinsic motivation.

Fun fact: I come from a family of private tutors! I am proud to say I have learnt from them.

About the lesson

My lessons aim to foster a genuine enjoyment of Maths, whilst focusing on identifying strengths and weaknesses - so we can target your weaknesses and enhance your strengths. While I will lead and guide the learning process in methodical steps, every lesson will be tailored to my client's needs. My students and I work together, to collaboratively agree on goals, celebrate improvements and develop great relations - so lessons are something to look forward to!

My lessons are usually 1-1.5 hours, but I offer 2-hour classes too. I have tutored over the last 5 years, and worked with ages from 5 to 16.

I generally tutor for 11+/GCSE exams, but am happy to offer my services to any child who needs support. As well as using past papers and exam-style questions, I have my own work that achieved 11 Grade 9s (A*) in GCSE and A*A*A*A* in my A-Levels, which can serve as a brilliant model for inspiration.
