About Ashley
I am a scientist currently working at the Mayo Clinic, where I support clinical research through molecular and cellular laboratory techniques. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology with a minor in Chemistry from Colorado State University.
Throughout my undergraduate studies, I gained extensive hands-on laboratory experience by working as a research assistant in multiple laboratories across campus. During my final year, I led an independent research project focused on sequencing the DNA of parasite species commonly found in fish native to Colorado. This experience strengthened my skills in experimental design, molecular biology, data analysis, and scientific communication.
In my current role as a Research Technologist, I perform DNA extraction and analysis, isolate specific cell populations, and support a variety of clinical research studies. My professional experience allows me to bring real-world scientific applications into my teaching, helping students connect classroom concepts to modern research and laboratory practices.
I am passionate about making science accessible and engaging for students and enjoy helping learners build both their knowledge and confidence in biology, microbiology, chemistry, and related subjects.

My teaching approach is highly individualized and designed to meet the unique learning needs of each student. As a neurodivergent educator who experienced challenges within traditional classroom settings, I understand the importance of adapting instruction to different learning styles. My goal is to help students develop a deeper understanding of the material while building confidence in their academic abilities.
When working with a new student, I begin by discussing the study strategies and learning methods that have been most effective for them in the past. This allows me to tailor my tutoring approach to support their strengths and address their specific needs.
Lessons typically begin with a brief review of previously covered material to reinforce retention and establish continuity. We then move into new concepts, with an emphasis on practical, real-world applications that help students connect with the content. Throughout the lesson, students are encouraged to ask questions, engage in discussion, and explain concepts in their own words to strengthen comprehension.
To further reinforce learning, I may provide short practice activities or assignments that allow students to apply what they have learned independently. My primary objective is to create a supportive learning environment where students—particularly neurodivergent learners—feel comfortable, capable, and empowered to succeed.
I primarily work with middle and high school students, but I also provide support for students enrolled in undergraduate general education courses.

My standard tutoring rate is $25 per hour. Urgent or short-notice sessions are $28 per hour. Late-night tutoring is $30 per hour.
Introductory Session
The initial 30-minute session is free of charge. This session allows me to better understand your learning style, goals, and current needs so that future lessons can be tailored effectively to you.
Availability
Sundays–Tuesdays: Most flexible availability for scheduling
Wednesdays–Saturdays: Sessions are available at 8:00 PM or later
Late-Night Policy
Late-night rates apply as follows:
Sundays & Mondays: After 6:30 PM — $30/hour
Wednesdays–Saturdays: After 10:00 PM — $30/hour
Standard rate ($25/hour) applies outside of late-night hours
