About Alice
Hi, I'm Alice I am a Mechanical Engineering student at McGill University, one of Canada's leading universities, currently entering my third year. I grew up in the Hungerford area and am home over the summer, which is why I am available for in-person tutoring.
I have always had a genuine love of mathematics and was fortunate to achieve an A* at A-Level, which gave me the strong foundation I needed to go on and study engineering at university level. I know from experience that maths can feel overwhelming, and I remember what it was like to find certain topics genuinely difficult before they clicked, which is exactly why I think I connect well with students who are struggling.
I have over a year of tutoring experience working with students aged 9–16, and I take real pride in the progress my students make. I am patient, encouraging and committed to making sure every student leaves a session feeling more confident than when they arrived.
Outside of academics I have worked in hospitality and customer-facing roles throughout my teens, which has given me strong communication skills and the ability to put people at ease quickly which is something I find just as valuable in tutoring as any qualification.
I look forward to working with you!

I am a Mechanical Engineering student at McGill University in Canada, currently entering my third year. I achieved an A* in A-Level Mathematics and have over a year of experience tutoring students aged 9–16 in both one-to-one and small group settings.
My approach is patient, structured and tailored to each individual student. I believe that confidence is just as important as understanding, so I focus on building both together. I start by identifying exactly where a student is struggling, then work back to fill any gaps before moving forward, rather than just drilling past papers from the start.
A typical lesson runs for one hour and usually follows a simple structure which is a short review of the previous session, focused work on a new concept or problem area, and then practice questions to consolidate understanding. I adapt this depending on whether a student needs exam technique, foundational support or stretch and challenge work.
I am particularly well placed to help with:
KS3 Maths (ages 11–14)
GCSE Maths (Foundation and Higher)
A-Level Maths
Lessons can be arranged at a time and location that suits the family. I am happy to come to you.
Whether your child needs to catch up, keep up or get ahead, I would love to help them build real confidence and ability in maths.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
Alice is an incredibly intelligent and professional individual, and it shows during her teaching. Alice has helped me with maths consistently for several years and has a talent for explaining concepts in an approachable way. With her help I have been able to excel in maths when I had previously struggled greatly. I would recommend Alice as a teacher to anyone needing help with maths.
Aside from being a wonderful teacher, Alice is a wonderful person. She’s helped me greatly upgrade my math understanding and, more than that, my math reasoning. (Oh, and she’s the best at physics too.) The downside is that now I don’t need her anymore… Thanks for everything, Alice :)
