About Jaylin
Hello! My name is Jay. I am a 23-year-old poet and journalist from Baton Rouge, LA. I am a graduate from Howard University, where I majored in English and minored in journalism. As a person, I am calm and outgoing. I have a youthful air and a laid-back yet serious approach to learning. I am an avid reader, music listener, and movie watcher, so I often relate my lessons to mainstream references for relatability and understanding. I have ADHD, so most of my teaching strategies are a reaction to my own educational difficulties. At my core, I am a lighthearted and understanding person.

As a tutor, I try to add fun into my teachings because writing is a passion not just a skill for me. I meet my students where they are and bring them up with me. I understand that English and writing aren't everyone's strong suit, so I try to make the effort to instill some interest.
I have my Bachelor's degree in English and a minor in journalism from Howard University. My English program was thorough but also prioritized versatility. I have taken classes in editing, linguistics, technical writing, workshops, literature, opinion writing, and more. I have a specialty in mediums of poetry and prose creatively, but I can also share tools for writing and overcoming writer's block to fiction writers too.
My tutoring sessions are available for undergraduate and high school students.
