About Fatima

I am an M.Phil. graduate in Applied Mathematics with over 10 years of teaching experience. In addition to my mathematics qualifications, I have also completed a second Bachelor's degree in Education, which has strengthened my understanding of effective teaching and learning strategies. I am passionate about helping students build confidence in mathematics and enjoy making complex concepts simple and accessible for learners of all levels.

About the lesson

I hold an M.Phil. in Applied Mathematics and have a strong background in both pure and applied mathematics. My teaching journey began in 2014 when I started tutoring a homeschool class of second-grade students. Since then, I have been passionate about helping learners develop a solid understanding of mathematical concepts and build confidence in their abilities.

Over the past 10 years, I have gained extensive teaching experience, including serving as a university teaching assistant, where I supported students in courses such as Calculus and Discrete Mathematics, particularly those studying on the medical campus. Since 2021, I have been working as an online mathematics tutor, helping students from kindergarten through Master's level programs achieve their academic goals.

I have experience teaching students from a variety of educational systems, including the British curriculum (Cambridge and Edexcel), the American Common Core curriculum, and the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, including AI SL, AI HL, AA SL, and AA HL Mathematics. I also enjoy guiding IB students through their Internal Assessments (IA), providing structured support throughout the entire process.

While I enjoy teaching learners of all ages and abilities, I particularly enjoy working with high school students. My teaching approach is patient, supportive, and highly personalized. I believe that every student learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to suit each individual's learning style, pace, and goals.

My lessons focus heavily on developing problem-solving skills through guided practice and exam-style questions. I use past papers extensively to help students become familiar with question patterns, improve time management, and build exam confidence. During lessons, students actively work through problems using a shared whiteboard and carefully designed worksheets, allowing me to identify areas that need improvement and provide targeted support.
