About Charles

I am currently starting a master's degree at Lincoln College, Oxford. My research ranges across disciplines, looking at changes in language, culture and society in Roman Italy, so I like to weave different aspects of Classics into tuition. I achieved the Hertford Prize in Latin as an undergraduate at Oxford, and enjoy writing my own Latin prose and verse, as well as reading widely in classical literature.

About the lesson

Offering tailored tuition from KS3 to University admissions. I think the best way to perform strongly in exams is to love and understand a subject within and beyond the confines of the syllabus. I build up a strong linguistic foundation, stretching students with methods such as composition. I also like to situate learning in the fascinating context of the ancient world.

Charles provided excellent, accessible and comprehensive coverage of complex grammar topics that enabled quick yet deeply rooted learning. This combined with his excellent teaching manner and emphasis on student participation resulted in an extraordinary transformation of my Greek skills, going from being rated at below third class standard to achieving 69 in my final exams at Oxford University.
