About YI-YIN

I specialise in teaching adult beginners and students who have personal or family connections to Taiwan—whether through partners, relatives, friends, or cultural interest. Having lived and worked in Taiwan for many years, I bring authentic knowledge of Taiwanese daily life, expressions, etiquette, and social culture into every session. My goal is to help you not only speak Mandarin, but understand the heart of the culture behind it. My lessons are warm, structured, and supportive. I create a harmonious, stress-free learning environment where you can ask questions comfortably, practise at your own pace, and feel motivated throughout your journey. Every class is customised according to your goals—whether you’re learning to communicate with loved ones, preparing for travel, strengthening cultural ties, or simply exploring a new language out of curiosity. Beyond teaching, I love travelling (I’ve visited over 20 countries!), connecting with people from different cultures, reading, handicrafts, and exploring Chakra and aromatherapy. These experiences enrich my teaching style, allowing me to bring creativity, empathy, and cultural understanding into every lesson. I’m here to support you step-by-step with patience, positivity, and professional guidance. Wherever you are starting from, I look forward to helping you grow your Mandarin skills with confidence and joy.

Hello and welcome! I’m Luisa, Lin Laoshi, a certified Mandarin teacher with a passion for helping adults learn Mandarin in a clear, enjoyable, and culturally meaningful way. Whether you're completely new to the language, reconnecting with Taiwanese heritage, or learning to communicate with someone special, you’re in the right place. My teaching combines patience, structure, and cultural depth to create lessons that feel supportive, practical, and personally relevant. With professional training (TCSOL certificates from NTU and TLI) and more than a decade of experience working and teaching in international environments, I guide learners step-by-step with confidence and care. Here, your goals come first. Every lesson is thoughtfully designed around your needs with real-life conversations, cultural insights, and customised materials that help you use Mandarin naturally inside and outside the classroom. My students appreciate the warm, encouraging atmosphere I create, where learning feels comfortable, motivating, and truly enjoyable. Whether you’re beginning your Mandarin journey or looking to build stronger connections with Taiwanese culture and people, I’m here to support you every step of the way.
