About XINGYU

As a native Chinese speaker and a graduate of the Master's program in Sustainable Destination Development at Uppsala University in Sweden, I bring a wealth of cross-cultural experience and perspective. I served as a student ambassador for a Swedish government agency for two years, worked as a whale-watching guide in the Azores, and conducted field research in Kenya for my thesis, where I helped local suppliers establish connections with the Chinese market. I love exploring the world and engaging in cultural exchanges. I'm a free diver, scuba diver, and backpacker who has visited over 40 cities in China, continually seeing my home country with fresh eyes. I hope to inspire a lasting interest in Chinese culture and learn more about your motivations for studying Chinese.

About the lesson

I am not a Chinese test-prep tutor, so I don't focus on test-taking techniques. Instead, I emphasize practicality, listening, and speaking skills, particularly in travel contexts. By using cross-cultural communication skills, I aim to foster a genuine interest in Chinese culture, making your learning journey sustainable for any purpose.

Our lesson content will be co-designed around your needs and interests, providing a customized learning experience.

Regardless of your current level, I invite you to a free trial session to discuss your ideas, experience my teaching style, and see if it aligns with your expectations.

I use visuals, cultural references, scene design, storytelling, and provide PDF and audio resources after class for easy review.

-Typical Lesson Plan

1.Review previous class material, discuss goals, and set travel-related scenarios.
2.Introduce new vocabulary and sentence structures around specific topics.
3.Practice through prompts, role-plays, and multimedia resources.
4.Summarize main points and address any challenges.
Review materials via PDF and audio for continued learning outside of class.

Another option: If you prefer to learn about Chinese culture rather than learning Chinese, I can also customize your own Chinese culture learning plan for you. This approach will be more inclined to understand and chat, and experience interesting cultural differences. Please note that I will not provide complex historical content, because it is too profound and difficult to explain clearly in English. I will give you a new perspective on China from my observations of contemporary Chinese society.
