About Ate

I’m a native Mandarin speaker from China with a background in marketing and international communications. I have worked at Google in China, where I regularly collaborated with people from different cultures and learned how important clear, thoughtful communication can be.

Outside of work, I love traveling, photography, design, architecture and learning about how people live in different parts of the world. Having spent a lot of time communicating in English and adapting to different cultural environments, I understand what it feels like to express yourself in a language that is not your first one.

That is also why I want to teach Mandarin. I enjoy helping people understand not only the language itself, but also the culture, humor, everyday expressions and small details behind the way Chinese people communicate.

I’m patient, curious and easy to talk to, and I hope my lessons can feel like a comfortable space where you are not afraid to make mistakes, ask questions and gradually build confidence in speaking Chinese.

About the lesson

My lessons focus on practical, natural Mandarin that you can actually use in real life. I adapt each class to your goals, whether you want to improve everyday conversation, pronunciation, listening, travel Chinese, or communication for work.

Rather than simply following a textbook, I use real-life topics, role-play, short dialogues and everyday expressions to help you speak with more confidence. I can also explain Chinese internet slang, cultural context and the difference between textbook Chinese and how native speakers actually talk.

A typical lesson is 60 minutes and can be adjusted depending on your level and learning goals.

I am a native Mandarin speaker from China with an international working background at Google, so I am comfortable explaining Chinese in English and communicating across cultures.

My lessons are best suited for adult beginners and intermediate learners, especially those who want conversational Chinese for travel, daily life, work, or simply a deeper understanding of modern Chinese culture.
