About Antolize

Hello! My name is Antolize, and I am passionate about helping students understand and enjoy Mathematics and Science. I have experience as a teaching assistant, where I worked closely with students to improve their Math and science skills. Additionally, I have experience in data capturing and working with Excel, which has strengthened my attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. I am currently studying for my BEd in Mathematics and Science, and I am also completing a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course. This means I understand different learning styles and how to adapt my teaching methods to suit each student’s needs. My Reason for Teaching I was inspired to become a Math teacher by a fantastic teacher I had in high school. Her clear and understandable approach to Math not only improved my marks but also made me genuinely enjoy the subject. I remember the excitement I felt when my “light bulb went on”—that moment of understanding was life-changing. I strive to be the teacher who creates those moments for my students, helping their own light bulbs go on when they finally grasp a concept. My Teaching Approach I believe that everyone can succeed in Math with the right support. I follow a step-by-step approach, ensuring that students understand each concept before moving on to more complex problems. My lessons are based on the Concrete, Semi-Concrete, and Abstract (CSA) method, combined with the See, Try, Do approach: Concrete (See) – I start with real-world examples and hands-on activities to introduce new concepts. Semi-Concrete (Try) – We use drawings, visual models, and interactive tools to deepen understanding. Abstract (Do) – Once students feel confident, we solve Math problems using numbers and symbols. My teaching method also follows the Watch, Do with Teacher, and Do Yourself with Guidance approach: Watch the Teacher – I demonstrate and explain the concept clearly. Do with the Teacher – We solve problems together to build confidence. Do Yourself with My Guidance – The student works independently while I provide support and feedback. This structured method helps students grasp concepts effectively, build confidence, and apply what they learn in real-world situations. I teach in both Afrikaans and English, so students can learn in the language they are most comfortable with. Ready to Improve Your Math Skills? About the lesson

My Teaching Methodology I believe that everyone can succeed in Math with the right guidance and practice! My lessons follow a step-by-step, interactive approach, where you first watch me solve problems, then we solve them together, and finally you try on your own with my support. I use a Concrete, Semi-Concrete, and Abstract (CSA) approach to make Math easy to understand: Concrete (Hands-on learning) – Using real objects, drawings, or physical examples (e.g., using pizza slices to explain fractions). Semi-Concrete (Visuals and Pictures) – Moving from real objects to visual models like number lines or fraction bars. Abstract (Symbols and Numbers) – Once understanding is solid, we work with numbers and symbols only. Languages I Teach In I am proficient in Afrikaans and English, so I can explain Math concepts in the language you are most comfortable with. What to Expect in a Lesson Each lesson follows a structured and supportive learning process: Watch the Teacher – I explain and demonstrate a concept using real-life examples and concrete objects. Do It Together – We solve problems step-by-step using semi-concrete visuals and interactive activities. Try It on Your Own– You apply what you've learned with abstract numbers and symbols, while I provide guidance. Example: If we’re learning about fractions, I will: Concrete: Show how a pizza is divided into slices (real-world example). Semi-Concrete: Use fraction bars or drawings to visualize the concept.
