About Samantha

I have held many positions working with students of all ages, from facilitating retreats, to counseling, to remote teaching, and finally to tutoring! I currently tutor 4th-6th grade and am looking to expand my reach as I begin graduate school. I have many achievements in these fields that I am proud of. At the moment I tutor a 6th grader who is an English Language Learner, and I am especially proud of seeing how far she has come with her English comprehension over just a short length of time.

About the lesson

I try to approach teaching at any grade level the same - with respect and care. I truly believe that as an educator, I learn just as much from my students as they do from me. Thus, truly actively listening is key for me. I want to hear student's perspectives and encourage them to think in their own unique ways. Part of how I accomplish this is tailoring my tutoring to each student's needs and individual goals. I'll have lessons planned in advance, but if a student expresses interest in working on something different, we will switch gears!

Details

I always offer a free consultation for at least 30 minutes or more before I begin tutoring with a student. I recognize that sometimes people just do not click, and if you decide I am not the right person for you after this consultation, no worries!

Please let me know if you need to cancel our appointment at least 24 hours in advance. If you cancel at least 24 hours in advance, you will not be charged. I will charge half the price of a session ($15) for a less-than 24 hours cancellation or for a no-show. This is just to compensate me for time spent planning and waiting!

In the case of a serious emergency which results in a short-notice cancellation or no-show, please let me know and I will refund your cancellation fee.
