About Andy
I am a Hong Kong secondary school teacher with more than 16 years of teaching experience, including working in two multi-ethnic schools before coming to Ireland. Fine art has always been my lifelong passion.
Growing up in a multicultural city, I had the privilege of exploring a wide variety of visual art genres and learning from artists with different styles and traditions. My two particular interests are Impressionism, with its expressive colors and brushwork, and Oriental ink painting, which I find offers a wonderful sense of serenity and harmony.

I am an oil painting practitioner since 2008 and an active plein air painter.
Over 25 years of experience in Chinese ink and watercolor painting, since 2000.
I was an art teacher for one year, working with students from multicultural and ethnic-minority backgrounds in Hong Kong.
I particularly enjoy helping beginners develop confidence in drawing, sketching, and watercolor and oil painting techniques.
I am especially interested in helping students develop the ability to reinterpret what they see—whether an object, landscape or scene—and translate it into their own painting.
I also enjoy exploring the techniques and themes of Chinese ink painting, using Chinese brushes and a variety of materials.
I offer flexible ways of learning, including lessons at your home and plein air painting sessions outdoors.
