About Ken

I specialize in coaching beginners and returning players who want more than random weekly lessons — they want real structure, clear progress, and confidence on the guitar.

I began teaching guitar in my 20s, continued on and off through my 30s, and for the past seven years I’ve been teaching consistently through private lessons, group sessions, and guitar workshops.

From this experience I’ve developed a progressive three-level online guitar program designed especially for adults:

Yes, You Can Play Guitar – Beginner
Yes, You Still Can Play Guitar – Next Level / Refresher
Yes, You Can Totally Play Guitar – Intermediate (coming soon)

Each course runs over 10 weeks and focuses on building strong foundations in:

Acoustic guitar technique

Chords and rhythm

Strumming and timing

Basic music theory explained simply

Playing real songs as early as possible

At this stage, I primarily coach students through private one-on-one Zoom lessons, which allows me to personalize the program and carefully refine the courses for online learning.

As the programs continue to grow, I also plan to offer small group Zoom courses for students who enjoy learning in a supportive group environment.

My coaching style is calm, practical, and encouraging. I work mainly with adults who may feel nervous, out of practice, or unsure where to start — and help them progress step by step in a relaxed and supportive way.

Alongside lessons, I provide access to custom online tools to practice exercises to help you stay motivated and make steady progress between sessions.

My goal is simple: to help you finally enjoy playing guitar with confidence!

About the lesson

Hi, I’m a guitar coach based in Coffin Bay, South Australia, specialising in adult beginners and returning players who want a clear, structured way to learn guitar online.

I offer private Zoom coaching and a progressive three-level program designed especially for adults:

• Yes, You Can Play Guitar – Beginner
• Yes, You Still Can Play Guitar – Next Level / Refresher
• Yes, You Can Totally Play Guitar – Intermediate (coming soon)

Whether you’re starting from scratch, picking the guitar back up after years, or ready to move beyond the basics, I provide a supportive step-by-step pathway to help you build confidence, solid fundamentals, and real playing ability.

Ken and Michelle play gigs around the community, and I first got to know them both at Music World when they ran the shop there. Ken was teaching guitar lessons at the time. I felt quite nervous about starting, but I took the leap, and I’m so grateful I did.
Ken’s calm, passionate and professional approach immediately made me feel comfortable. He created a supportive learning environment that helped me grow in confidence, never once making me feel incapable or “not good enough.” The lessons were exceptionally well structured and paced in a way that felt safe and achievable, while still pushing us to develop our skills.
Each lesson moved along beautifully, keeping us challenged, inspired and learning. Ken’s theory knowledge is impeccable, matched by his natural ability as a guitarist, which he shares with his students in a humble and respectful way. I especially appreciated him sharing his own journey, from learning guitar to where he is now, including how he approached difficult moments, practice, and the joy that comes from playing.
I highly recommend Ken for guitar lessons and I’m really looking forward to continuing my third session with him.

Ken and his partner Michelle ran a music store in Port Lincoln. Over the years they have amazing work supporting young artists, organising structured open mics to give anyone a foot in the door and learn how to perform in front of an audience. I was lucky enough to have been a recipient of this generosity and am extremely gratefully.
I have done several guitar courses with Ken. He has a deep knowledge of music theory which he weaves into the course. You don’t only learn what and how to do something but how it works with the theory. He is a quiet, easy-going bloke that makes lessons something to look forward too.
