About Ashley
-Quailified (QTS) primary school teacher, currently working in year 5.
-Educated to degree level (BSc) with PGCE primary qualification
-Specialist in primary maths and English.
-I have a combined 4 years with of experience in working in education with
children of all ages throughout primary.
In my previous school children in my class made good progress (77% in writing, 83% in reading and 100% in maths)
As a teacher, creative practice is something that I enjoy within the classroom, as I believe that developing curiosity is the only way to truly encourage self-motivation and inspire learning from within children. An example of when I have used this is, when I planned and taught Maths last term, I created multiple open investigations that allowed the children to plan parties, design hotel rooms and weekly food shopping. Being creative and giving Maths context is crucial otherwise it sits in isolation. Embedding real world skills, involving budgeting and planning is something that I feel is very important.
