About Ayan

Hi, I’m Ayan, a qualified and experienced Mathematics teacher with around 9 years of international teaching experience in the UK, Malaysia and Qatar.

I chose to teach Mathematics because I genuinely enjoy helping students discover that maths is something they can understand and succeed in. I especially love seeing the moment when a student goes from saying “I can’t do this” to confidently solving a problem on their own. For me, teaching is not just about getting the right answer; it’s about building confidence, developing problem-solving skills and helping students become independent learners.

My lessons are friendly, supportive and tailored to each student’s individual needs. I use clear explanations, worked examples, questioning and plenty of guided practice to make sure students understand the “why” behind the maths, rather than simply memorising methods.

I have experience teaching students from KS3 through to GCSE, IGCSE and A Level, including Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics and Additional Mathematics. Whether a student needs help with a challenging topic, is preparing for an exam or simply wants to become more confident in maths, I aim to make every lesson engaging, encouraging and purposeful.

My goal is for every student to leave a lesson feeling more confident and thinking, “I can do this!”

About the lesson

I believe maths lessons should be engaging, supportive and tailored to each student’s individual needs. I start by understanding what the student already knows and identifying any areas they find challenging. I then explain new concepts clearly, using simple steps, worked examples and visual methods where helpful. I encourage students to ask questions and think through problems themselves rather than simply giving them the answers.

I use a range of interactive techniques, including questioning, real-life examples, practice questions, mini-quizzes and online tools such as GeoGebra, Desmos and Kahoot. I adapt the pace and level of challenge depending on the student, while regularly checking understanding throughout the lesson.

Lessons are typically 45–60 minutes long, although I can adapt the length depending on the student’s age, level and needs.

I am a qualified mathematics teacher with around 9 years of international teaching experience. I have taught in the UK, Malaysia and Qatar, across KS3, GCSE and IGCSE Mathematics, as well as A Level Statistics. I have experience with the Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics curriculum and have also taught Additional Mathematics.

My lessons are suitable for students from approximately 11–18 years old, including KS3, GCSE/IGCSE and students preparing for exams. I also support students who need to build confidence, strengthen their understanding of key topics or challenge themselves to achieve higher grades
