Patient and conscientious tutor offering English language and literature lessons. Proven track record of exam success.

I am a believer in talk for writing; it's all about discussing the texts and topics beforehand in order to really craft a unique perspective on what is being dealt with before delving straight into an independent writing task. I like teaching by modelling together; I'll write an example up using your ideas, before gradually giving you the ownership over your learning.

I teach academic english, reading, creative writing, literature, poetry. For the levels: elementary school, junior high / middle school, college, adult education, , graduate school, ,
I give lessons in person at the student's home.
I give lessons by webcam.
I am logged in these last 2 weeks.

James's Experience

I have been an English teacher for the last four years. I have taught the reformed KS4 and KS5 English qualifications and have achieved outstanding outcomes for the students under my care. My first year under the specification saw my Y11 class achieve 100% 4-9, with 32% 7-9 pass rate. I value discussion of texts to promote confidence in my students.

* Achieving 100% pass rate for English literature for my Y11 mixed ability class on the first year of reformed specifications, where the examinations are all closed book and linear. 32% of the class achieved a 7 (old A grade) or above.
