About Zoey

Hi! I'm Zoey. I'm from China and currently based in Australia.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Chinese Language and Literature, and a Master's degree in TESOL from UNSW. During my time studying in Australia, I found it really enjoyable to talk to people from different backgrounds. So I'd love to connect with people from all over the world through language and culture, and hopefully get more people interested in Chinese and Chinese culture along the way.

Outside of teaching, I like listening to music, going to galleries and museums, or just spending time in the park doing nothing in particular. I also watch some anime, and I'm a big fan of suspense and horror movies — and games too. If you're into any of that, we could even use those as a starting point for learning.

About the lesson

My goal is to create a relaxed and enjoyable learning space where you feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. I believe the best way to learn a language is through topics you actually care about — so I like to base lessons around your personal interests, whether that's music, movies, anime, or even horror films and games. If we're talking about something you genuinely enjoy, you'll pick up vocabulary and sentence structures naturally without even realising it.

Each lesson is either 60 or 90 minutes — you can choose what works best for your schedule and concentration level.

My lessons are designed for adults aged 18 and above, whether you are:

A complete beginner wanting to learn Chinese for travel, work, or personal interest
Someone with some experience looking to practice conversation and improve accuracy
A learner who wants to review and refine your Chinese in a supportive environment
I’m patient, responsible, and committed to making learning feel less like a task and more like something you look forward to. I’ve worked as a Chinese language teacher in a middle school and am currently volunteering as a homework tutor and teaching Chinese to middle school students as a second language. I know that everyone learns differently, so I try different approaches to find what works best for you.

I'm still early in my teaching career and I don't have decades of experience — but what I lack in years, I make up for in genuine effort and a willingness to adapt to your needs. I’ll prepare thoroughly for each lesson, listen to your feedback, and adjust my methods along the way.
