WORK EXPERIENCE
1. MSc TESOL /MSc Language Education dissertation supervisor
The University of Edinburgh - March 2021 to now
My responsibility is to supervise dissertations of the postgraduate students whose Master’s research projects are on language teaching -related topics. The supervision involves individual online meetings with supervisees, offering feedback and advice, as well as marking their final
dissertations.
2. Online English teacher for adults
Meten English (Likeshuo) - March 2017 to March 2021
I was to teach English to adults , high school or university students, professionals from various areas. The class size varies from one to 15 students. My responsibility includes practicing students’ speaking based on pre-designed teaching ppt, developing teaching materials, attending teaching training workshops, and providing demo classes to prospective students.
3. Online English Teacher for children
OLS China - June 2013 to June 2018
My responsibilities involved delivering English classes and tests to current students, translating company documents , such as our native English teachers' resumes, students' test papers. Moreover, I needed to take care of consultation about course plan, course assignment and
provide feedback to students' test results.
4. Online IELTS teacher
Hujiang online English school - February 2016 to May 2016
My duty was to give IELTS level tests to new students and give them advice on appropriate course books and other related learning materials based on their test results.
5. Online English Teacher for adults
Hi-know online English school - July 2015 to January 2016
I was responsible for teaching English vocabulary, grammar, speaking , and writing to adults through the school’s online platform.
6. Online Art and Language teacher
Chegg Inc. - September 2014 to June 2015
My work was to teach mandarin and art to students with the company's online platform. The art teaching usually includes hand drawing and painting as well as graphic design, such as illustration. I was also responsible for solving confusions about ambiguous mandarin phrases
and sentences by providing students with examples and comparisons in different dialogues.
7. Telephone Interviewer

My duty was to interview UK citizens about nationwide issues, such as health (NHS), education, social insurance, infrastructures, public transportation, policies and government officers, Parties, etc. Then I had to record and input their options and suggestions regarding the
interviews into the company's computer system for further categorization and evaluation.
8. Animation assistant
Jiangtong animation Ltd. - June 2012 to August 2012, Wuhan, China
My duty was to edit and colour serial scenes of a cartoon or an animation, which consisted of scenery settings and anime characters by using software including Maya and Photoshop. Some scenes were also adjusted and coloured through hand drawing and painting.
9. Art teacher
Mozart art training school - August 2011 to June 2012, Wuhan, China
My duty was to teach children and high school students handmade art through traditional media like gouache, acrylic, watercolor, colored pencil, charcoal pencil, etc. Students had to make their artwork while I was demonstrating how to draw, paint, sketch real objects or people
in the class . I also gave guidance on light, shadow, colour rendering, shapes, and structures during and after classes.

About the lesson

I like to communicate with students, and meanwhile I can improve my teaching methods based on their feedback. Reciprocally, learners can foster their learner agency with appropriate scaffolding and support that they need from the teacher. I think education can be designed to benefit both teachers and students. In my approach, I regard teaching as a means to gain experiences while students can build conceptual knowledge and skills that they are interested or needed for deeper learning. Teaching as learning is a happy process that I'd like to involve in my life. My philosophy for learning is that each person learns in a different way. I am here to help them to discover their individuality and work alongside them to maximize it. I believe in hands-on experiences, creativity and learning through play.
