About Asher

I'm a PhD in engineering, with a strong academic foundation in engineering mathematics built through both my own doctoral-level research and 15 years of hands-on teaching experience. I've tutored engineering undergraduates in core mathematical topics (calculus, derivatives, and integration), helping them build the problem-solving foundation needed for advanced engineering coursework.

My approach is rooted in understanding the "why" before the "how"—rather than memorizing formulas, I help students see the logic behind mathematical concepts so they can apply them confidently in exams and real engineering problems. Having worked extensively with data analysis, simulation, and computational modelling in my own research, I bring a practical, applied perspective to abstract math topics that many students otherwise find disconnected from real life.

About the lesson

Lessons are tailored to your current level and goals, whether you're preparing for SPM/STPM Additional Mathematics, tackling first- or second-year university calculus, or need help connecting engineering coursework to real mathematical foundations.

A typical lesson includes:

A quick review of where you're currently stuck or what topic you want to focus on
Step-by-step concept explanation, using visual and real-world examples where possible
Guided practice problems, moving from easier to exam-style questions
A short recap and specific practice tasks before the next session

I offer both online and in-person lessons (Perak area), with flexible scheduling to fit around school, university, or work commitments. The first lesson is free, so we can assess your current level, discuss your goals, and make sure we're a good fit before continuing.

Perfect! I've had few maths lessons covering maths foundation and pre-calc and I'm continuing my lessons to further develop my understanding in calculus. Mr. Asher explained every topics according to my level and it helps me grasp the topics well. He's very patient, he can come out with different ways of explanations (simple, bite-sized, relate it to real world application) and that makes me feel safe enough to share or ask anything that are confusing to me throughout the lesson. Overall, I have a very good learning experience with Mr. Asher!
