About Sukanya
I bring a strong academic and industry background to my mentoring. I completed my PhD at the University of Cambridge (UK) and my postdoctoral research at Tufts University in neurobiology and behavioral biology. I also have over eight years of industry experience in precision oncology, working across scientific content and data curation, including the design of content curation strategies and workflows. This combination allows me to connect fundamental concepts with real-world applications in modern biology.
My approach is thoughtful, structured, and student-focused. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring ideas in depth. Rather than relying on memorization, I focus on helping students build clarity, confidence, and independent scientific thinking. Each session is tailored to the student’s goals, whether that involves understanding a research paper, strengthening core concepts, or preparing for the next stage of their academic journey.
I am motivated to share my knowledge because I have seen how challenging it can be to move from learning concepts to truly understanding and applying them. Having benefited from guidance and meaningful discussions during my own academic journey, I value the opportunity to support others in developing confidence, clarity, and a deeper engagement with science.

My approach is discussion-based and student-led, focusing on understanding scientific papers and developing research thinking. Sessions are interactive, where we work through concepts, papers, or specific questions in depth. I emphasize clarity, structured reasoning, and independent thinking rather than rote learning.
Classes are best suited for undergraduate and MSc students, as well as early-stage researchers preparing for PhD programs or transitioning into research careers in life sciences.
