About David

I have a broad academic background ranging from teaching high school physics and math and later undergraduate courses. My research work does not necessarily apply but helps with connecting seemingly unrelated concepts.
For Physics students, my engineering work, including several patents, helps provide perspective on all subjects reviewed (for example, orbital mechanics and satellite systems) and demonstrate to student the usefulness of what they are learning.

About the lesson

I try to coach the student to find answers to problems by going to the root rather than mechanically applying formulas. It takes longer but provides a solid foundation. We work together on finding the answers.
1) understanding the problem. 2) assess which theories/methods could help resolve 3) Evaluate paths to reach an answer, including formulas or techniques learned in class 4) apply those 5) verify the answer (“sanity check”). 6) repeat independently for similar problems.
For homework assignments, review and understand techniques learned in class before attempting mechanical computations and follow process above.
