About Eve
I have over five years’ experience working with young people and adults as a youth arts worker, which has helped me develop a supportive, patient, and engaging approach to teaching. Since September, I have been pursuing my PhD at Durham University, researching “How polluted are our modern ports? An ecobiogeological investigation”, reflecting my passion for science and environmental education.
Having been tutored myself and worked extensively with students of all abilities, I understand the importance of tailored support. I aim to build both knowledge and confidence, helping students feel capable, motivated, and independent in their learning.
Through my work as an invigilator, demonstrator, and postgraduate, I have taught a wide range of ages—from primary school to university level. As part of my training at Durham, I completed the Level 3 “Earth Science into Schools” module, including a 10-week placement in a primary school, teaching Geography and Science to pupils aged 6–11. This experience gave me strong insight into how children learn and how to design lessons that are engaging, structured, and effective.
I am professional, reliable, and committed to creating a safe, supportive, and motivating learning environment, enabling students to thrive academically while building confidence and independence.

I’m a first-year PhD student at Durham University in Earth and Biosciences with a strong interdisciplinary academic background and a passion for student-centred teaching. I hold a First-Class (1:1) BSc in Climate Science and have studied Geography, Earth Sciences, Anthropology, and Archaeology. I achieved 96% in Mathematical Methods in Geoscience, reflecting strong quantitative and analytical skills.
Teaching approach: My lessons are built around the learner. I understand that everyone learns differently, so I use a variety of methods—flashcards, quizzes, games, past papers, exam-style questions, and structured lessons—tailored to each student’s needs. We discuss lesson plans before the first session, trial them in the initial lesson, and refine them over time to create the most effective and supportive learning environment. I emphasise both conceptual understanding and exam technique, helping students build confidence as well as achieve results.
Lesson structure: Lessons are typically 60 minutes, but I can offer longer sessions of up to 2 hours for exam preparation or coursework support.
