About Tyler
I am a recent graduate from Rutgers University-New Brunswick (currently ranked #2 nationally for philosophy) with a B.A. in philosophy and mathematics. I specialize in ethics (normative, moral psychology, and metaethics), existentialism (especially Nietzsche, Camus, and Unamuno), and logic.
I have tutored Introduction to Logic (course number 201 at Rutgers) for approx. 1 year and tutored philosophical writing for approximately 2 years.
I was invited to give a talk on ethical obligations for youth populations at the Woodbridge Academy for Allied Health and Biomedical Sciences and had a paper accepted for publication by Johns Hopkins University's undergraduate humanities journal (forthcoming; expected September 2020).

For philosophical essay help, I begin by clarifying the following questions:
1. What is the thesis and how does it address the prompt (if one was supplied)?
2. What type of argument is being pursued (critique of a published work, original argument, argument reconstruction, etc.)?
Once these preliminary steps are completed, I move onto an outline. If the student already has one, we will review it and discuss whether it both fully encapsulates the intended focus and does not contain excessive points. If no outline is already started, we will discuss in greater detail what points or claims are most important to the essay and how the student intends to defend them.
If a student already has a draft, we will work each sentence to determine whether it is sufficiently concise and precise. The goal is to have the student be fully confident that their argument can stand up to any obvious criticisms.
For logic, the focus will either be on discussion of the relevant topics (this pertains to topics such as incompleteness, satisfiability, etc.) or on working through problems (deductions, validity, soundness, etc.).
