About Andy

I'm a ex-fashion photographer with 20 years of industry experience. I also work with portraits, still life, landscapes. I have lectured and led workshops at a number of Universities including The London Metropolitan University. I also teach Art and Photography at KS3/KS4/KS5 in a secondary school in London. (PGCE) I love working with students of all ages (DBS certified) to increase their knowledge and familiarity with working with their camera. I have worked across the world producing imagery for Elle and Marie Claire. Many of my assistants/students are now practising photographers. No matter what knowledge or experience you have we can work together so that you can begin to understand the basic concepts of photography (Shutter speed, ISO, depth of field) and know how to use your camera and its settings to create the photographs that you always dreamed of. For more advanced students I can teach lighting, composition, art history, to further your individual knowledge and capabilities I have 20+ years of international experience in the photographic industry. 10+ years of advertising and editorial experience including 6+ years in e-commerce. Specialist in fashion and beauty as well as still-life. I’m also a Producer, art director and creative director for still and moving shoots. After assisting Mert & Marcus in London and Tom Munro in New York I produced and shot imagery for clients such as Burberry, Daks, Elle and Marie-Claire Magazines.

About the lesson

I currently teach Art and A-Level photography in a secondary school. I teach photography to all levels of student in practical ways making it easy to understand and then utilise the basic and more advanced concepts of photography and lighting. I tailor my lessons to each individual's experience, needs and pace. After talking with you and ascertaining your needs I can provide a scheme of lessons so that you can learn new skills in easily digested small steps. You will then learn how to put all of your new skills and knowledge together to take the photos you have always wanted to. I use a number of ways of explaining some of the sometimes difficult concepts in photography so that they become understood and apply for yourself outside of my lessons and into the future. Always happy to provide single top-up lessons as you progress in your own practice.
