About Rina
I am an MPhil Physics graduate with over 4 years of teaching and research experience, specialising in the interdisciplinary application of physics in art and restoration. My approach is holistic, combining the principles of light interaction, material analysis, and conservation science to explore the physical basis of artistic masterpieces. I use art historical examples to illustrate concepts, helping students connect scientific theory with real-world works of art. In my sessions, I emphasise non-destructive testing principles and the study of physical properties of pigments, binders, and other art materials. I guide students in understanding how physics can reveal the composition, condition, and authenticity of cultural artefacts. I have worked with art history students, conservationists, and anyone curious about the science behind cultural heritage. Each lesson blends scientific rigour with creative exploration, fostering curiosity and deep understanding. I encourage hands-on observation, critical thinking, and reflective learning, making complex concepts accessible and engaging. My goal is to help learners see the invisible forces at play in art, from light scattering to material decay. By combining physics with cultural context, students gain a unique perspective on both science and art. I am passionate about helping students apply physics to preserve, analyse, and truly understand artistic masterpieces. Together, we explore the science that keeps our cultural heritage alive.

My teaching approach in Physics is gentle, reflective, and focused on practical scientific enquiry. I guide students through experimental design, data analysis, error propagation, and scientific reporting with clarity and precision. Each concept is explained step by step, helping students see the reasoning behind every method and measurement. I emphasise hands-on learning, encouraging students to explore, test, and understand the results themselves. I support students in developing their unique approach to scientific investigation, nurturing curiosity and independent thinking. For those drawn to DIY experiments or curiosity-driven learning, I help translate ideas into well-structured, meaningful experiments. Laboratory work is not just about following instructions—it’s about asking questions, analysing outcomes, and learning from mistakes. I help students gain confidence in conducting experiments and presenting results effectively. By combining theory with practice, students build strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Each session is interactive, reflective, and tailored to the student’s pace. My goal is to help learners excel, develop a scientific mindset, and discover a new, confident way to conduct experiments.
