About Leah
I am a Physics tutor with over 4 years of experience and hold an MPhil in Physics. My teaching is shaped by a holistic and interdisciplinary approach, where science meets the world of art and cultural heritage. I enjoy showing how Physics goes beyond equations to explain the materials, colours, and light interactions that bring art to life. One of my key interests is the study of light and its interaction with pigments. I guide learners in understanding how wavelengths, reflections, and scattering reveal both beauty and hidden details in artworks. Alongside this, I introduce the principles of non-destructive testing, a vital tool for analysing paintings and sculptures without causing any harm. Material analysis is another focus in my teaching. I emphasise the physical properties of art materials, from the crystalline structure of pigments to the thermal behaviours of varnishes and metals. These concepts help students connect Physics with the science of preservation. I often draw on art historical examples to show how scientific methods shape conservation practices. My work extends to art history students, conservationists, and anyone curious about the Physics behind cultural heritage. Each lesson blends technical rigour with creative exploration, ensuring that learners gain both knowledge and appreciation. My goal is to make Physics a bridge between science and the humanities, enriching understanding on both sides. Together, we can use Physics not only to study but also to preserve and appreciate artistic masterpieces for generations to come.

My teaching approach in Physics is systematic, clear, and designed to simplify even the most complex topics. I focus on breaking down macroscopic behaviours into smaller, easy-to-grasp ideas. This helps students connect concepts to real-world examples and build lasting understanding. I cover core areas of Physics such as thermodynamics, heat transfer, states of matter, and gas laws. Each lesson is carefully structured to move from fundamentals to advanced problem-solving. I make sure students not only memorise formulas but also understand the principles behind them. Feedback is an essential part of my teaching. I provide regular guidance so learners can track their progress and gain confidence. My goal is to help them master core principles step by step without feeling overwhelmed. With experience guiding Gadget Hackers and Experimentalists, I encourage curiosity and hands-on thinking in every session. I believe Physics should not just be studied, but experienced and explored. Together, we will build a strong understanding of energy, its transformations, and its role in explaining the world around us. With the right strategies and practice, students will excel and feel empowered to apply Physics in both academics and real life.
