About Johar

I went to the largest music school in England, where each of us was trained as a musician up to the professional level in addition to our high-school subjects. Several times a year we had public concerts, competitions, cooperations with professionals, recordings and music-making trips, which greatly challenged us musically, mentally & paedagogically.

Since then, I have also worked as a teacher of other subjects, which has greatly enriched my breadth of methods and teaching style.

I am an extremely open, positive and communicative person, who has a lot of fun explaining content, problems, concepts and techniques in the most lively and individually comprehensible ways possible. I also have a very practical approach, though. I am particularly interested in the enthusiasm & the resulting progress of my students and look forward to the opportunity of learning to adapt my teaching to your individual strengths and interests.

About the lesson

I'm deeply interested in a combination of understanding/hearing development and physical technique, which I consider the 2 most important skill areas of a pianist. Music exists in the realm of sound and, therefore, only through improvements in listening and visualising can one better understand, remember, emotionally express and, if so desired, create it (i.e. improvisation, composition). However, at the piano, it is also essential that the hands are always at the highest possible level of ability in order to realise anything and everything you have in your mind and ears :)

We can discuss what your musical goals are and which frequency and intensity of lessons will put you on the optimal path towards them while fitting comfortably into your daily life.
I'm based in Stuttgart but travel to Hamburg often. While planning each trip, being available to teach each of my students as agreed upon remains my top priority.

Extra offer (coming soon):
Although lessons are always one-to-one, in future I would like to offer interested students opportunities to get to know and learn from each other. This could take the form, for instance, of social reunions or musical get-togethers (such as group workshops or performances in a relaxed atmosphere). That will, however, never be compulsory, so no worries if you're on the shier side!

Perfect! Johann is a great teacher! I like that he adapts the course so that is interesting for me! We always practice the piece together and it makes easier for me to practice then on my own. He is flexible with time schedule and punctual. I really enjoy learning piano with him.
