About Derek
Currently working as the psychiatric provider for the Battle Creek VA's PTSD Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program.
Recently graduated from the University of Florida's Doctor of Nursing Practice program.
Prior work environments include: psychiatric emergency rooms, inpatient mental health facilities, dual-diagnosis mental-health and substance use disorder residential treatment centers, and outpatient psychiatric office settings.
I strive to provide a nurturing, collaborative teaching environment for students of all backgrounds and proficiency levels. I utilize a slow, detailed approach to break down relevant subject areas, ensuring all questions are answered thoroughly. My inherently calm and respectful personality allows students to feel at ease when tackling such complex information, feeling like they've truly learned something by the end of our lessons.
