About Anna

Anna is a watercolor and acrylic painter based out of Austin, Texas. Her colorful works cover many different subjects and techniques including landscape, still life, portraits, and animals. Her process includes hand-cut elements, fabric, charcoal rendering, and gold leaf. She uses mixed media to create work that feels personal and meaningful, always aiming to tell a story from a unique and heartfelt perspective.

Originally from St. Louis, Anna grew up with creativity as a natural part of her world. Art was always present; something she returned to, experimented with, and used to understand her experiences. Over time, what began as curiosity and personal expression developed into a committed practice. For more than ten years, she has continued to build and refine her craft as a self-taught artist, exploring what new materials, textures, and layers can reveal.

Anna’s work has been shared through local Austin craft fairs and was featured in the 2025 Austin Studio Tour. Her practice continues to grow through community connection, personal storytelling, and an ongoing dedication to creating work that feels honest.

About the lesson

I believe art should be approachable, relaxing, and fun, regardless of your experience level. My goal is to help students build confidence while learning techniques they can continue using long after our class is over. Whether you've never picked up a paintbrush or you're looking to refine your watercolor skills, I'll tailor each lesson to your experience and creative goals.

My teaching style is hands-on and encouraging. I begin each lesson by demonstrating a technique step-by-step before guiding students through their own painting. Along the way, I'll share tips on color mixing, brush control, layering, composition, and watercolor fundamentals while offering personalized feedback throughout the session.

A typical one-on-one lesson may include:

Introduction to watercolor materials and techniques
Practice exercises (wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, blending, layering)
Creating a finished painting together
Individual guidance and feedback
Tips for practicing independently between lessons

I also offer private group classes for birthdays, bachelorette parties, bridal showers, team-building events, and corporate workshops. These classes are designed to be relaxed, social, and beginner-friendly. Each guest creates their own watercolor painting while learning foundational techniques in a fun, welcoming environment. No prior experience is necessary, and all supplies can be provided.

What sets me apart is my focus on creating an enjoyable, low-pressure experience. I understand that many people feel intimidated by watercolor, so I break techniques down into simple, manageable steps while encouraging creativity and experimentation. My goal is for every student to leave feeling proud of what they've created and excited to continue painting.

Lessons are available for children, teens, and adults of all skill levels—from complete beginners to intermediate artists looking to strengthen their technique. I offer one-on-one instruction, small group lessons, and private events, with each session customized to the interests and goals of the participants.
