About Adam
I began playing the euphonium at age 9, in my primary school band in Sydney, Australia.
I relocated to Manchester, England in September of 2014 to study at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) under euphonium tutors, David Thornton and Steven Mead. I graduated in 2018 with a 1st Class Bmus (Hons). I am currently studying for a Masters of Music at the University of Salford.
I am the principal euphonium player with the Fairey Band, and have performed in some of the world’s most iconic venues, most notably on the Sydney Opera House stage in 2013, as a soloist. In the same year, I became the National Australian Euphonium Champion.
In my first year of study at the RNCM, I was generously supported by a Buffet Besson Scholarship, and also made it to the final round of the BBC Radio 2 Young Brass Awards.
In May 2016, I got into the final round of the International Tuba and Euphonium Competition (ITEC) in the Artist Euphonium Division category. My quartet, The Brass Compass Euphonium Quartet, went on to gain 1st prize in the quartet category of the same competition. These competitions were held in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA.
In June 2016, my quartet went on to win the prestigious Philip Jones Brass Ensemble Chamber Music Competition held at the RNCM.
In November 2016 of the same year, The Brass Compass Euphonium Quartet were invited to perform as artists for the Singapore Low Brass Festival.
In December 2018, I was announced as the Fairey Band's 'Player of the Year' due to a consistent and high level of performance throughout 2018.
I am an enthusiastic teacher and I'm passionate about music education. I've taught brass programmes at primary and secondary school level, and have many years of experience in brass tutoring at every level.
