About Brittany

I have been playing guitar since I was 13 and teaching it professionally online for 4 years. My formal background is in music education from the University of Alabama and I developed my guitar skills seriously through independent study, structured workshops, and ongoing practice throughout and after my degree. I have worked with students from middle school all the way through high school seniors preparing for college music programs and performance assessments. My students have performed at school talent shows, joined school jazz ensembles and rock bands, and one of my students successfully auditioned for a competitive regional youth guitar program after nine months of focused lessons together. I am result-oriented in everything I do as a teacher, which means I am always tracking where each student is, where they are going, and what the smartest and most efficient path is to get them there. I care deeply about making sure every student not only learns how to play but genuinely understands the music they are making at a deep level.

About the lesson

My guitar lessons are result-oriented and built to give every student smart technical foundations, deep musical understanding, and the specific skills they need to achieve their personal guitar goals as efficiently as possible. I teach acoustic guitar, electric guitar, blues guitar, jazz guitar, and rock guitar to students at all experience levels. My lessons cover proper posture and hand position, open chords and barre chords, fingerpicking and strumming patterns, pentatonic and major scales, lead guitar and soloing fundamentals, blues phrasing and bending techniques, jazz chord voicings and rhythm playing, rock riffs and power chords, music theory for guitarists, reading tablature and notation, chord progressions, and beginner improvisation and songwriting concepts. I also prepare students for school music assessments, performance evaluations, and college auditions by working through exam-style questions and performance scenarios so they are fully prepared and confident when it counts.
