About Michael

Hello! I'm Michael, a Storyboard Artist, Animator, and Illustrator. I've been working in the visual art field for well over a decade, and I'd like to share what I've learned with you here!

While I did study Fine Art in college with a focus on Animation, most of my learning came from years of personal study and professional experience. I have been a freelance creative for several years; in addition to illustrating and animating for a range of commissions and passion projects, my work as a Storyboard Artist has been used for commercials, music videos, TV and film.

I also have years of experience teaching children, peers and older adults on a range of subjects, both one-on-one and in classroom settings; I find the growth and development of those learning from me immensely satisfying, all the more so when it's one of my main pursuits.

Learning is a unique, individual experience, so I tailor my approach for each student's specific challenges and strengths, working with them on how best to build on those strengths and fill in knowledge gaps. I advocate hands-on learning, guiding students to their own understanding through the exploration of root concepts; this allows lessons to be applied across a greater range of challenges.

Students ages 10 to 60 can attest to my ability to communicate difficult or unfamiliar concepts, and improve comprehension and performance.

About the lesson

Whether you see yourself getting into an art career in the future or just want to get into the hobby to start, I can help you learn fundamentals, find your artistic voice and create your own visual stories.

I start with understanding your art goals, and give lessons and exercises built towards that specific track. I like to focus on teaching students how to learn art, so that they can find their own specific style and voice.

Excellent! They, for me at least, diagnosed what I was looking for and allowed me to sketch to see where I fall short in. From there he taught me a better way to visualize the initial process in my drawing.
