About Jonathan
I hold two separate Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Massachusetts Amherst— one in Neuroscience, one in Biology — and I've spent 12 years tutoring students with learning disabilities in science and math one-on-one. I also have managed analytical labs and worked as a field service engineer for one of the largest analytical instrument companies in the world. My focus is getting students to actually understand the material and convert that into higher test scores and strong AP exam results, not just memorize their way to a pass.
What I tutor:
- AP Biology, AP Psychology, Chemistry, and Physics — high school level
- Biology and Psychology — college level
My approach targets the exact topics costing you points: labs, FRQs, tricky mechanisms, and exam strategy — drilled until they're automatic. With a neuroscience background, I teach the way memory and comprehension actually work, so the material holds past the next test.

How lessons run:
Every student starts with a quick diagnostic — I find the exact topics costing you points, then we build the session plan around those instead of re-teaching what you already know. That keeps every hour efficient and focused.
A typical session:
- Target the weak spots — mechanisms, labs, calculations, or concepts you're stuck on
- Work real exam-style problems, not just theory — AP FRQs, multiple choice, and lab analysis
- Build test-taking strategy: timing, how to read the question, where points are actually earned
- End with a clear takeaway and, if useful, a short practice set for the week
Levels I teach:
- High school: AP Biology, AP Psychology, Chemistry, Physics
- College: Biology and Psychology
Format: online or in person, one-on-one. I adapt pace and depth to you — whether you need to catch up, lock in an A, or push for a 5 on the AP exams.
