About Farisha
My initial career was in Environmental Science with a specialization in Biology. It was my first passion that I pursued, however far from my only. With my Environmental degree I was able to participate in some conservation projects including tagging and releasing Loggerhead sea turtles and stocking and maintaining an exotic Butterfly exhibit. I was fortunate enough to become an IMPACT mentor for underprivileged youth in the Miami area. I taught a variety of STEAM and marine science classes. I found that I loved to teach! I continued teaching in non-traditional settings for many years. Eventually, I decided that I wanted a more stable job and went back to school to become a Dental Hygienist. I have practiced for 10 years and have been a Dental Hygiene Educator for the past 3. I was the Senior Clinic Lead Instructor and have taught many classes including: Senior Clinics 1 and 2, Nutrition, Ethics, Dental Materials, Senior Seminar. My favorite part of all is when a student has an ah-ha moment.

My lessons are focused around you and your learning style. I love to show-tell-do as I find that this is the best way to help information stick. A typical lesson plan is started with lecture, followed by visual aids, question check-in session. What sets me apart as a tutor is that I have been a teacher in informal and very formal settings. I have also taught ages 5 all the way up to individuals in their 50 plus. I have the ability to connect my lessons to my students and figure out where their roadblocks may be. I am full of empathy and there are never too many questions. The best part of teaching is inspiring learning. Anyone can teach, but it takes a special teacher to make you desire to learn :)
