About Amanda

I'm currently reading psychology at a Swedish university and I have previously studied journalism at City University London. I have also read the IB, and I graduated with a 7 in English A Lang&Lit.
While I was in the UK I worked with translation of Swedish news articles for the Daily Express and the Daily Star, and I feel very comfortable with the english language.
I would love to get a chance to teach, as I have a great interest in education and pedagogy. I'm certain I have adequate experience to create a course that will be interesting and useful to you.
My hopes are to help improve your success rate with applications to jobs or universities, to help prepare you for language tests such as the TOEFL, or to give you a good foundation for further study at the level you are on.

I also offer courses in swedish, creative writing, essay writing or other subjects related to language or communication. I have worked at SVT and Expressen. I have also read a few courses in creative writing, and 2014 one of my short stories were nominated to the award Lilla Augustpriset. I would love a chance to teach what I know about creative writing, if that interests you.

About the lesson

As I've previously worked as a lecturer in educational science I find it very important to find creative ways to teach that are also in line with evidence from current research. I also find it particularly important to put my tutoring in a context which will be interesting and motivating to the student, so that they always can clearly see the connection to the real world.
You learn languages to use them, and my goal is to give you a stable enough foundation so that you'll feel comfortable using english in every environment you will be in. If there are specific demands on you, for exemple if you are studying the IB or need help prepping for a test, we will obviously adapt to that. I will still try to design the content around you and your life within the confines of that though, as research shows that makes it easier to retain new information.

The first session is free - we will use that so that you get a chance to get to know me, ask any questions you might have, get a feel for my methods and to create a plan based on your goals and current abilities.

If you book multiple sessions at once we could look at altering the hourly rate.
