About Jasmine

My name is Jasmine, I am a 3rd Year Student at York St John University. I am studying Children Young People and Society, and in September 2025 will be beginning my PGCE in Secondary English (Teacher Training). I want to offer my services as a tutor because it will help prepare me for my future as a teacher, as well as give me a chance to share my joy and love for the subjects I teach. I have ADHD, Anxiety and potentially ASD which went undetected throughout my school life which means I know how it feels to struggle in a classroom environment. Teachers didn't always know why I didn't do my homework, or why I struggled to engage in class and I didn't always know why myself. I have empathy for students who struggle, and I want to help them reach their full potential and learn to believe that they can do anything they put their mind to. A child or young person shouldn't suffer or fail in school because they are misunderstood or their needs are ignored. I'm not here to tell you off, or make you feel bad or put unnecessary pressure on you, I'm here because I care and I want to help. Together we can battle those annoying homework tasks, learn and understand those terms/phrases/questions that may seem difficult now, and get you in a place where you are confident in your abilities. I got there, so I know you can!

About the lesson

I have a strong understanding that all children and individuals learn differently and that the classroom is not always the best environment for many. I offer a patient and understanding approach and together we can discuss how you learn best and apply that to our sessions. Lessons can be 1-1 or they can be in a group setting, they can be facilitated by resources and homework or we can use the lessons to go over homework/revision/exam questions you are struggling with. My methods vary on an individual basis so we can discuss what works best for you in our first session! I want to make learning as enjoyable as possible for you, and help you harness self-belief so that you can be confident in your abilities. A standard lesson will be 1 hour however if you would prefer longer sessions this can be discussed. If needed, we can incorporate small breaks into our lessons so you don't become overwhelmed/fatigued. I have the following qualifications: GCSEs: grade 6 in English Language, grade 7 in English Literature and grade 8 in RE. A Level: C in both Psychology and Sociology, B in English Literature. My lessons are for: RE students at any age/level. Sociology or Psychology students from GCSE - A-Level or equivalent.
