About Stefano
I’m a dedicated mathematics major at FIU with proven success helping high school and college students master topics from algebra through advanced calculus. Drawing on my own rigorous coursework and real-world problem-solving experience, I tailor each lesson to your learning style and goals. You can count on clear explanations, punctual sessions, and a supportive, professional atmosphere where your questions always matter.

Teaching Method and Techniques
• Conceptual Foundations: I begin each topic by connecting new material to prior knowledge, ensuring students grasp the “why” behind formulas and theorems before moving to procedures.
• Multiple Representations: I use algebraic, graphical, and numerical approaches interchangeably—showing, for example, how a quadratic function’s graph relates to its factored form and how both tie back to the quadratic formula.
• Socratic Questioning: Rather than simply giving answers, I guide students with targeted questions (“What happens to the slope when…?”, “Why does this manipulation preserve equality?”) to promote critical thinking.
• Active Learning: Lessons incorporate mini–whiteboard exercises, peer-teaching moments (if in a group setting), and real-world applications (e.g., optimizing area in design problems) to keep sessions engaging and relevant.
Typical Lesson Plan
1. Warm-Up (5 min)
o Quick “mental math” or review problems from the previous session to activate recall.
2. Introduction of New Concept (10 min)
o Present the concept with a real-world scenario or visual aid.
o Work through one fully annotated example.
3. Guided Practice (15 min)
o Student works through several problems with my scaffolding—step hints, error-checking prompts, and checkpoints for understanding.
4. Independent Practice (15 min)
o Student tackles new problems solo while I circulate, offering targeted feedback.
5. Reflection and Extension (10 min)
o We review common pitfalls, summarize key takeaways, and sketch out next steps or challenge problems for further enrichment.
I always conclude by setting clear goals for the next session—whether that’s mastering a tougher problem type or exploring an advanced application.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
• Mathematics Major Insight: As a current math major, I bring deep, up-to-date content knowledge and can anticipate the logical leaps students will need to make, especially in proof-based or abstract courses.
• Adaptive Communication: Drawing on my own experience learning rigorous material, I tailor explanations to each student’s learning style—whether they’re visually oriented, love hands-on manipulation, or thrive on symbolic reasoning.
• Passion for Pure Mathematics: I don’t just teach techniques; I share the beauty and elegance of mathematics—showing how seemingly disparate topics (like group theory and polynomial division) connect in surprising ways.
• Empathy and Patience: Having navigated challenging courses (Calculus) myself, I understand the anxiety math can provoke. I foster a supportive environment where questions are encouraged, and mistakes are viewed as learning opportunities.
Serving High School & College Students
I’ve successfully tutored students preparing for Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus in high school, as well as undergraduates tackling Calculus I & II, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations. Whether bridging gaps in prerequisite skills or pushing ahead into more advanced theory, I adjust pacing and content depth to meet each learner’s academic goals and confidence level.
