About Amanda
I’m an educator from South Africa with a degree in Education, and I’m currently completing my Honours in Education, specialising in Mathematics. I’ve taught Grade 6 learners and previously tutored a group of 25 Grade 7 learners. I enjoy teaching because I like figuring out where a learner’s understanding breaks down and finding a way to make the concept finally click. For me, one of the best parts of teaching is seeing a learner go from “I don’t understand this” to solving the problem independently.

In my lessons, I focus on what the learner actually understands and where they are getting stuck. We work through problems together, break difficult concepts into manageable steps, and practise until the learner can work independently. My experience teaching Grade 6 and tutoring Grade 7 Mathematics learners has taught me that learners often need a different explanation, not simply more practice. I therefore adjust my approach according to the learner, while keeping lessons structured and focused on making measurable progress.
