About Yi
I have been teaching in some form for more than 10 years both privately and at tutoring colleges. Here is testimonial from one of my past students:
Yi Xie’s method of teaching in my opinion is superb. He makes sure you understand each step of the process to working out a problem. His knowledge in 4U helped out tremendously in a 3U class as the ‘harder questions’ in 3U requires more thinking and understanding to solve the problems. His class is always chill and relax, an atmosphere in my opinion ideal for maximum learning potential, he allows the students to ask questions freely while he is explaining or writing out the working on the board if there is a misunderstanding or confusion. Once classwork is done he churns out mathematical problem that relates to what we can see in real life, such as the Golden ratio. Overall Yi Xie is the best maths teacher anyone can have as he is passionate about the subject and really wants his students to understand the concept and process of solving a problem before moving onto the next.

My teaching method is based on instilling understanding of the concepts behind mathematical formulas, rather than just on rote memorisation and blind application of said formulas. I believe this kind of teaching is most suitable for dedicated and self-motivated students who are looking to achieve top marks in examinations.
