About Phelisia

I’m Phelisia, a qualified primary teacher with over 22 years of experience teaching across KS1 and KS2. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with children of all abilities—from those who need extra support to those who thrive on greater challenge—and I’ve loved helping each one discover their potential. Teaching has always been more than a job for me; it’s my passion. I believe that every child deserves to feel confident, capable, and proud of their learning. Nothing brings me greater joy than seeing a child’s face light up when they finally understand something they once found difficult or when they begin to believe in themselves again. I aim to create a safe, supportive, and fun environment where children can build strong foundations in maths and English, develop resilience, and rediscover a love of learning that will last a lifetime.

About the lesson

Every child is unique—and so is the way they learn. That’s why my tutoring is never “one-size-fits-all.” Instead, I take time to understand each student’s individual needs, strengths, and challenges, and then design lessons that bring out the very best in them. I don’t just teach maths and English—I build confidence, independence, and a love of learning. I believe that when children feel safe to make mistakes, ask questions, and try new strategies, they grow into resilient and motivated learners. My lessons are carefully planned but always flexible. I use a variety of approaches—structured practice, problem-solving tasks, creative activities, and even games—so learning feels enjoyable and achievable. I also make sure to celebrate every step of progress, no matter how small, because each success builds confidence for the next challenge. Parents can feel reassured that my tutoring aligns with what their child is learning at school. I communicate clearly, reinforce key skills, and adapt methods to suit both school requirements and the child’s personal learning style. Above all, I aim to create a positive, supportive relationship where children feel valued and encouraged. I want every student I teach to leave their lessons not just with stronger skills, but with the belief: “I can do this.”
