About Hughie

I'm a RADA-trained professional actor, currently working across the West End, the Royal Shakespeare Company, Netflix and the BBC, and I bring that real-world experience into every lesson.

Whether you're preparing for GCSEs, A Levels, drama school auditions or simply looking to build confidence, I offer engaging, personalised tuition in Drama, English Literature (with a particular passion for Shakespeare) and English Language.

My teaching combines academic rigour with practical experience. Shakespeare isn't just something I've studied—it's something I've performed professionally—allowing students to explore the texts in a way that's lively, accessible and memorable. I also help students develop essay writing, textual analysis, creative thinking and exam technique, ensuring they feel confident both in the classroom and in the exam hall.

Alongside my professional acting career, I've spent many years teaching in schools, drama academies and one-to-one settings. I have extensive experience working with students of all abilities, including those with SEN and additional learning needs, and pride myself on adapting my teaching to suit each individual learner.

Lessons are supportive, challenging and enjoyable, with a focus on building confidence, curiosity and genuine understanding—not just improving grades.

About the lesson

I aim to make every lesson enjoyable, engaging and completely tailored to you. Whether you're preparing for GCSEs, A Levels, LAMDA exams, drama school auditions or simply want to build confidence, we'll create lessons that suit your goals and learning style.

I'm a working actor with experience at the Royal Shakespeare Company, in the West End, on Broadway, with Netflix and the BBC, so I bring real industry experience into every session. Shakespeare isn't just something I've studied—it's something I've performed professionally. Together we'll get the plays off the page, explore the characters, understand the language and discover why they're still performed today.

For English Literature and Language, we'll focus on building confidence alongside strong exam technique. We might work on essay structure, analysing unseen texts, creative writing, language analysis or tackling the trickiest parts of the curriculum. My aim is to make English feel less intimidating and far more enjoyable.

Drama lessons are practical, creative and fun. From monologues and scene work to audition preparation, acting techniques, script analysis and acting through song, I'll help you develop both your performance skills and your confidence.

I've taught students of all ages and abilities, including those with SEN and additional learning needs, and I pride myself on creating a relaxed, supportive environment where questions are always encouraged.

Most importantly, I want students to leave every lesson feeling they've achieved something. Whether that's a higher grade, a stronger audition, or simply a new appreciation for Shakespeare, my goal is to help you enjoy learning while becoming the best performer, reader and writer you can be.
