About Eden

Hi! My name is Eden and I have just finished my college courses (receiving A*A*A) at a private school I received a fully-funded academic scholarship to attend at 16. I found that a lot of my revision for each of my subjects consisted of me teaching myself the subjects due to the fast pace the lessons moved at. I want to lend a hand to anyone who feels they need time to understand and revisit certain subjects- and would rather do so with someone their own age.

Whilst you may prefer a university student with more higher level experience, I find that I will be able to relate to your course more as it was more recent in memory. Not only this but I am determined to help in anyway I can. Thank you.

About the lesson

I can offer tutoring on the following texts:

A Midsummer Night’s Dream
An Inspector Calls
Romeo and Juliet
Jekyll and Hyde
Too Much Happiness (Alice Munro)
Arcadia (Tom Stoppard)
The Color Purple (Alice Walker)

There is also the offer to look at unseen poetry/ prose/drama and the skills needed to tackle this in an exam.

Aside from set texts I can also offer assistance in English Language (GCSE level) courses. Whether this be approaches to texts or the creative writing sections.

In our lessons we can dedicate separate tutoring sessions to certain themes. This allows a deeper understanding as we can apply context, quotes and critical analysis to each theme. Throughout the sessions we will build a quote bank, and often find these key quotes overlap. This allows you to answer a range of potential questions with as little quotes to remember as possible. We can also do sessions just focused on context or key ideas.

Each lesson will take the form of an open discussion before some note taking and reflection. Together we can create resources like online revision cards to test throughout the session or learn certain cues for quotes. There will be no serious quizzes or tests unless requested (these sessions are designed to grow a passion for a subject and not destroy it)

We can also look at exam questions and essay plan together, or individually then compare answers.

The first session will always be an open discussion so I can understand personal learning styles and adapt lessons from there.
